Stylist or Colourist Requirements

• Current Illinois Cosmetology License
• Graduate from cosmetology school 
• 3+ years’ on-the-floor experience
• Flexible scheduling available
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Excellent communication skills
• Reliable transportation to meet scheduling needs
• Proper tools to perform professional services for clients
• Established clientele a plus, but not required

Interested in Becoming a Hair Innovation Professional?

HIP Salon is committed to training the next generation of hair innovation professionals. For recent graduates of cosmetology school, you may apply to HIP’s extensive training and residency program. 

If selected for the HIP Training Program, you will receive in-depth, one-on-one training that goes beyond what you learned in cosmetology school.
Our highly skilled educators help build your skills as you learn the craft of cutting and styling or coloring hair. You will discover the necessary tools and techniques to achieve the results that our clients have come to expect from our high-end salon.

Once you complete HIP’s training program and obtain your cosmetology license, you will enter the HIP Residency Program, which gives you on-the-floor experience and opportunities to hone your skills under the careful supervision of HIP senior staff.

By participating in the discounted services of the HIP Residency Program, HIP Clients understand they will be sitting for services that could last 2 hours or more. Our clients will be asked to provide constructive feedback for you to grow as a hair innovation professional.
