Hair Innovation Professionals, aka HIP Salon, started in 2005 by a team of hair professionals who wanted to provide a high-end, trendsetting salon experience like no other in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
Today, we are proud to offer the most innovative techniques that create amazing results for our clients. We are driven by our passion and mission. Plus, our commitment to excellence is unmatched.
We are a departmentalized salon, which means our people focus entirely on their area of specialization. Our services include Precision Scissor and Razor Cutting, Hair Styling, Hair Color, Highlights, Balayage, and Color Melting. We also specialize in Keratin Treatments, Hair Extensions, Wefts, Hair Restoration, Eyelash Extensions, Eyelash Tinting, Eyelash Perming, Makeovers, and Bridal Party Packages.
When you step into our salon, you immediately feel the positive, creative energy flowing between our team and our clients. We have from 2 to 40 years of experience in serving clients in professional hair salon settings. Some of us have been with HIP from the start. We continue to update our skills through extensive training so that we stay current on the latest hairstyling, cutting, color, and makeup trends.
Over the years, we have formed deep relationships with vendors such as Bumble and Bumble, Schwarzkopf, SachaJuan, Xtreme Lashes, Hairdreams, and Bellami. These alliances bring in top-of-the-line product offerings for both salon use and for client purchases.

WHY HAIR? When I was a teenager, I was mesmerized by people cutting hair. I went up and down my street with my little case in hand, practicing on anyone who would let me near them with scissors.

WHY HAIR? I was born into this field, I grew up with perm solution! My dad and three uncles own an old-fashioned barbershop, and my mom and three aunts work at a beauty shop. I wanted to incorporate both so I decided to be a hairstylist/barber!

WHY HAIR? I knew my freshman year of high school I wanted to work with hair. Through my junior and senior years, I was splitting my time between regular school and beauty school. It was the best decision I ever made. After graduation, I started working at Heidi’s Salon in Woodfield Mall – my second best decision. When Heidi‘s doors closed, a new door opened: HIP Salon. Today, I’m still working with Debra and many of the people who I started out with.

WHY HAIR? In 1979, my first job in the Bay Area was at a brilliant salon called Peter Thomas Hair, in Berkeley, CA. Through that job, which was my introduction to the industry, I realized what an artistic event hair could be. Through impeccable training and technique, many amazing, interesting sculptures could be created, transforming the work from just “a haircut” into a work of art. I have been involved in the industry ever since.
